One of the main arguments for choosing Riviera Maya as our next destination were the ancient Mayan ruins. I've never been in this area before and it seemed there's something magical about it.
Early in the morning our private guide "Soul" from Tulaka Expeditions picked us up to get to the famous Chichen Itza. Chichen Itza was selected as one of the New 7 World Wonders in 2007 and is part of the UNESCO world heritages.
Impressive architecture - though it's pity that you're not allowed to climb up any more.. After a lunchbreak at the Hibuki Cenote we went on for Ek` Balam. Ek`Balam is as Chichen Itza an ancient place of Mayan temples. Though those ruins are even older. In Ek`Balam you have the possibilty to climb up the ancient ruins - if you are in a good condition and are not afraid of height.. because it is pretty high! (As usual I was wearing heels and my friend decided to stay on the ground - "so that he can catch me if I should fall" ;-) )
